The Agri-Business Council of Arizona (ABC) is a not for profit trade association whose membership represents the entire agricultural community from ditchbank to the dinner table in Arizona. The Association was established in 1978 to respond to proposed water legislation and to serve as the State’s Reclamation representative to the National Water Resources Association. Its members are comprised of growers, ranchers, suppliers of equipment, seed, chemicals and services, agricultural processors, financiers of agribusiness enterprises, commodity groups, trade associations, electrical districts and irrigation and drainage districts. ABC’s purpose is to ensure the vitality and sustainable profitability of the agriculture industry; and to further ensure that it remains a strong contributor to the overall diversified economic health of Arizona.

ABC actively supports and promotes all aspects of agriculture, recognizing that agriculture and agribusiness are interdependent and share common challenges and goals. ABC alerts, educates and links its members on current issues important to agriculture and agribusiness such as groundwater management, federal water policies, rural economic development, regulations of agricultural chemicals and products, state and federal land policies, policies concerning endangered and threatened species, changes in taxation and business legislation which have impacts on Arizona’s agriculture and agribusiness industries.

On any issue, ABC attempts to reach a working consensus with all its members on the best course for agriculture to pursue. ABC’s members then bind together to speak with one voice as they generate further support within industry and communicate that support externally to state and federal entities, as well as to the general public, to gain their understanding and favorable action on the issue under consideration.
